Lately with Social Media (and Why Things Might Seem Out of Context)

By Life with Lucia & Glynn | Apr 25, 2024

Hey everyone,

Let's talk social media. Lately, I know my posts might seem a little...well, all over the place. One minute I'm sharing a delicious recipe, the next I'm ranting about a bad day. And honestly? I apologize for any confusion it might cause.

The truth is, there's a lot going on behind the scenes that you don't see. I've been open in the past about living with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). It's a constant companion, and it can definitely affect how I interact with the world, including social media.

Here's the thing: when anxiety hits, it can feel all-consuming. One moment I might be feeling good and inspired to share a recipe, the next a wave of worry crashes over me and all I can do is vent. It's a struggle to stay consistent, and sometimes the filter of "curated online life" just feels impossible to maintain.

Does that mean I'm giving up on social media? Absolutely not!

This platform is a way for me to connect with all of you, to share the good, the bad, and the messy in between. And guess what? That messy part is real. It's part of life, and especially part of life with anxiety.

So, moving forward, here's what you can expect:

  • More Transparency: I'll try my best to be upfront about how I'm feeling, even if it's not always sunshine and rainbows.
  • A Celebration of Imperfection: We all have our struggles, and social media shouldn't be a place to pretend otherwise. I'm embracing the real, even when it's a bit chaotic.
  • Continued Connection: Despite the anxiety, I truly value the connections I've made here.

If you're also dealing with anxiety, or any other mental health challenges, know that you're not alone. Social media might portray a picture-perfect world, but the reality is, we're all just human beings trying our best to navigate life's ups and downs.

Here's to being kind to ourselves, and finding ways to connect even when things feel messy.

Thanks for your understanding,

Lucia
